About Us - North Cedar Creek

Welcome to our Ranch!

Your hosts, Melvin and Charlene Pierce, have been hosting pheasant and deer hunters since 1990.

Our farm was started by my Grandfather, C.A. Pierce when he followed his older brothers and sister out to Slope County in 1909. He was the youngest in the family, and when he got here the good Homestead land was all taken, so he had to buy his land. We will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary on the same farm in a few years.

Bob, our oldest son, is now starting to farm with us, and is the fourth generation here at the same location. Our farm is a diverse operation with several crops and both sheep and cattle in the rotation.

Ours is a complete no till farm to conserve the land and preserve it for future generations. Rotating crops and livestock allows us to reduce the use of chemicals as much as possible.

Our shelter belt plantings began back in the teens, and continue to this day. Our newest plantings are field wind break and wildlife plantings put in the spring of 2006. These are interspersed with corn, small grain, and hay strips to increase wildlife winter survival.

Most of the hunting is on land owned and farmed by us. There are a few tracts rented nearby from neighbors. We try to keep the hunting local and personal. We provide a personal touch. You will be staying here on the home farm, enjoying our family and farm life, while also enjoying the greatest pheasant hunting in the world, with all wild birds.

We are increasing our trees and leaving more corn standing to insure great fall hunting and even better winter survival for the following years. Southwest North Dakota has the best Ring Neck Pheasant hunting anywhere. We have hunters who have been hunting in Iowa and South Dakota, who say they will not go back, because our hunting is so much better.
